About The Position

The Medical Director-Physiatrist (PM&R) will provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). This role involves collaboration with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures. The position requires evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities. Responsibilities include assessing and stabilizing patients with emergent conditions, performing physical examinations, and developing treatment plans. The role also entails admitting patients to inpatient or other levels of care, performing general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and reviewing/approving pre-admission screenings. The Medical Director is responsible for prompt, courteous, and competent professional services, as well as administrative duties as reasonably required. Accurate and complete medical record preparation and maintenance are essential, complying with all regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards.

Requirements

Must possess M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
Must hold current state medical license.
Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Nice To Haves

Certification, Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, is preferred.
Prior experience as Medical Director/leadership preferred.
Assist with medical education as requested. This may include curriculum development, supervision and performance evaluations, daily rounds, lectures, demonstrations, informal discussions, and continuing education to attending Medical Staff, the nursing staff, and the therapy staff.

Responsibilities

Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s).
Collaborate with the Facility’s leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement and evaluate patient care policies and procedures.
Help Facility to identify, evaluate and address/resolve medical and clinical concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care or quality of life or are related to the provision of services by physicians and other licensed health care practitioners.
Evaluation, diagnosis, consultation and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairment and disability.
Assess, stabilize and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with Medical Staff Policy regarding Emergency and Consultative call services.
Perform the general history and physical examination.
Perform pre-admission assessment.
Perform day 4 Plan of Care Review and approve of pre-admission screening.
Performing prompt, courteous and competent professional services in accordance with generally accepted professional standards for such services.
Performance of administrative services may be reasonably required.
Responsible for preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate medical and other records in accordance with generally accepted medical practice and in compliance with mandated regulatory, legal and/or accrediting standards.
