About The Position

The Medical Director-Physiatrist (PM&R) will provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s). This role involves rounding and consultations, collaborating with facility leadership to develop and implement patient care policies, and identifying/resolving medical and clinical concerns. The position requires evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and management of patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities, including pain management, co-morbidities, injection procedures, and electro-diagnostic medicine. Responsibilities also include assessing and stabilizing patients with emergent conditions, performing physical examinations, and developing treatment plans. The role involves admitting patients, performing history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and leading interdisciplinary team conferences. Maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory standards is essential.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current state medical license.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Current practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in Inclusiveness, Stewardship and Resource Management, Communication, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, Quality Improvement, Teamwork, Strategic Planning and Organizing.
  • Ability to assist with medical education, including curriculum development, supervision, performance evaluations, rounds, lectures, demonstrations, and continuing education.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Prior experience as Medical Director/leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s), including rounding and consultations.
  • Collaborate with facility leadership, staff, and other practitioners to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures.
  • Identify, evaluate, and address medical and clinical concerns affecting patient care, quality of life, or the provision of services by healthcare practitioners.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, consult on, and manage patients with physical and/or cognitive impairments and disabilities.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with painful or functionally limiting conditions, manage co-morbidities, perform diagnostic and therapeutic injection procedures, and utilize electro-diagnostic medicine.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
  • Perform physical examinations of pain, weakness, and numbness, and develop diagnostic plans or prescriptions for treatment.
  • Evaluate, prescribe, and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans.
  • Admit patients to inpatient or other levels of care for treatment.
  • Perform general history and physical examinations, pre-admission assessments, and day 4 Plan of Care reviews.
  • Review and approve pre-admission screenings.
  • Perform Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Procedures.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, and competent professional services in accordance with generally accepted professional standards.
  • Perform administrative services as reasonably required.
  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate medical and other records in compliance with regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards, including PAS, IPOC, interdisciplinary team conferences, Progress Notes, Admission Orders, IRF-PAI, and other related documents.
