About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine at UT MD Anderson in Houston, Texas is recruiting a Medical Director of the Acute Pain and Regional Anesthesia Service. This is a full-time academic anesthesiology position with a clinical faculty appointment (CFA), initially carrying an 85% clinical effort. The role requires fellowship specialty training in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine with a minimum of five years of experience in this field. Candidates should demonstrate a dedication to research through leadership and collaboration in randomized controlled trials (RCTs), manuscript reviews, and other original research endeavors. Specific experience requirements are outlined for Assistant Professors (minimum 2 years as Instructor or 4 years post-degree), Associate Professors (minimum 5 years in rank as Assistant Professor), and Professors (minimum 5 years in rank as Associate Professor). Board certification in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and active participation in the Maintenance of Certification Program or examination system with the ABA are required. An unrestricted Texas medical license in good standing is necessary before onboarding. This position may involve maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, requiring routine reviews and screening, and satisfying all necessary requirements for continued security and integrity is a condition of hire and employment.

Requirements

  • Board certified in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology
  • Actively participating in the Maintenance of Certification Program, or in the examination system with the ABA

  • Minimum 2 years as Instructor or minimum 4 years post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee (for Assistant Professor)
  • Minimum 5 years in rank as an Assistant Professor (for Associate Professor)
  • Minimum 5 years in rank as an Associate Professor (for Professor)
