About The Position

We are Northern California’s leading, mission-driven senior services nonprofit organization. Situated on a beautiful nine-acre campus in San Francisco, our continuum of care includes assisted living, memory care, long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and a specialized acute geriatric psychiatric unit. With a legacy dating back to 1871, we serve over 2,500 older adults each year through innovative, comprehensive programs rooted in compassion, community, and excellence. As the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services, you will provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for our 12-bed inpatient Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) for adults over the age of 65, as well as support psychiatric services across our entire campus. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, service-oriented psychiatric care in compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory requirements. This role provides leadership to psychiatric providers, collaborates with clinical and administrative executives, and serves as a key physician leader. Note: This role is structured as an administrative position ($250k salary) coupled with direct patient care provided as an Independent Contractor to generate additional clinical professional fees.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited program.
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Active, unrestricted California Medical License.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Physical ability to perform standard clinical and administrative duties on an active healthcare campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Geriatric Psychiatry fellowship or extensive experience in geriatric psych strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily administrative and clinical responsibilities for the 12-bed inpatient geriatric psych unit in collaboration with other APU providers.
  • Oversee and support psychiatric services across the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Assisted Living/Memory Care residences.
  • Partner with clinical and administrative executive leadership to champion quality improvement initiatives, compliance, and clinical excellence.
