About The Position

The Director of Medical Services oversees the daily coordination, quality, and compliance of medical and behavioral health services across Residential, Day, and Mental Health programs. Reporting to the Administrator of Medical & Behavioral Services, this leader ensures timely care, accurate documentation, regulatory adherence, and smooth operational workflows for residential healthcare patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, or a related clinical field.
  • 3+ years of clinical leadership experience in healthcare, behavioral health, long term care, or a similar regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of clinical operations, interdisciplinary care, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing clinical quality metrics and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Background check, drug screening, physical exam, PPD test, and verification of an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Support clinical quality and documentation standards for Mental Health services.
  • Monitor treatment planning, service delivery, and timeliness of interventions.
  • Coordinate with clinicians to ensure continuity of care across Residential and Day programs.
  • Assist in oversight of behavioral clinicians and technicians.
  • Ensure adherence to treatment models and behavioral support plans.
  • Maintain compliance with behavioral health regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Manage scheduling, communication, and follow up with external Primary Care providers.
  • Coordinate Specialty Care referrals (dentistry, podiatry, neurology, cardiology, etc.).
  • Track appointment outcomes, follow up needs, and care continuity.
  • Support nursing staff in meeting clinical standards and documentation expectations.
  • Ensure medication administration, care plans, and clinical protocols are followed.
  • Monitor nursing performance, training needs, and compliance.
  • Track key indicators: documentation accuracy, timeliness, safety metrics, and patient outcomes.
  • Identify trends and escalate concerns to the Medical & Behavioral Administrator.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain readiness for audits, licensing reviews, and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with: State & federal healthcare regulations, Behavioral health and mental health standards, Nursing practice requirements, HIPAA and patient rights rules.
  • Standardize workflows, documentation practices, and communication processes.
  • Support incident review, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow up.
  • Collaborate with Residential, Day Program, and Behavioral Health leadership to ensure seamless service delivery.
