About The Position

MedSpeed is hiring a full-time Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver in Fairfax, Virginia, at $18.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and the position involves long-distance driving throughout the DMV area. Drivers transport vital medical supplies and specimens for healthcare organizations. Most of the day is spent driving a company-owned vehicle and making deliveries to healthcare environments, including hospitals, physician offices, and laboratories. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and employees must be able to perform duties across assigned routes.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and hold an active driver's license for at least 3 years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass an initial and random drug and alcohol screen.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting items off storage racks.
• Comfort walking long distances and standing for long periods.
• Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands even when pickup and drop-off responsibilities or routes are inconsistent.
• Complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Use a hand-held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interactions.
• Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes, which may change or vary according to client and business needs.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
• Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
