Medical Courier - Advanced
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring an advanced medical courier in Wallingford, Connecticut. The role transports medical specimens and laboratory materials so diagnostic testing can support patient care. The courier works independently in a mobile position, communicates with healthcare and laboratory staff, and uses company-provided transportation and mobile tools. Hours are variable, and the employee must be available for routes or shifts Monday through Sunday, including possible weekend and emergency coverage. The role may also involve special assignments, training, projects, client work, and assisting with Group Lead duties.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 3 years of driving experience.
- Motor Vehicle Record documentation showing no more than two moving violation convictions in the previous 36 months, with none in the most recent 12 months.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and reliable documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the road.
- Comfort using mobile devices or scanning tools.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain on the move for much of the shift.
Nice To Haves
- Prior medical, customer service, courier, or logistics experience is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Pick up, transport, and deliver medical specimens and laboratory materials.
- Communicate professionally with doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff to ensure timely deliveries.
- Safely operate a company-provided, non-CDL vehicle.
- Use handheld scanners, route software, and mobile apps to track deliveries.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, storage, and documentation.
- Comply with DOT, HIPAA, OSHA, and internal safety standards.
- Cover routes across multiple shifts and/or weekends as needed.
- Complete special assignments such as training, pack out, and air; work on special projects and with clients; and assist with Group Lead duties.
- Cover necessary routes and functions, including multiple shifts and emergency coverage.
