About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a full-time float/coverage Medical Courier in Wood Dale, Illinois. This mobile role transports medical specimens and laboratory materials, helping ensure diagnostic tests reach their destinations safely and on time. The courier works independently, represents Quest Diagnostics while interacting with healthcare and laboratory staff, and uses a company-provided non-CDL vehicle and mobile delivery tools. The position has variable hours and requires availability for any route or schedule Monday through Sunday, including possible coverage across shifts, weekends, and emergency assignments. Pay is $20.23–$22.00 per hour, with possible shift differentials and annual performance bonus eligibility. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available to external applicants only.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
At least 3 years of driving experience.
Motor Vehicle Record documentation showing no more than two moving violation convictions in the previous 36 months, with none in the most recent 12 months.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and reliable documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the road.
Comfort using mobile devices or scanning tools.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain active for much of the shift.
Availability for any route or schedule Monday through Sunday.

Nice To Haves

Prior medical, customer service, courier, or logistics experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Pick up, transport, and deliver medical specimens and laboratory materials.
Communicate professionally with doctors, nurses, and laboratory staff to support timely deliveries.
Safely operate a company-provided non-CDL vehicle.
Use handheld scanners, route software, and mobile apps to track deliveries.
Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, storage, and documentation.
Comply with DOT, HIPAA, OSHA, and internal safety standards.
Cover routes on multiple shifts and/or weekends as needed.
Complete special assignments such as training, pack out, and air; work with special projects and clients; and assist with Group Lead duties as needed.
Cover necessary routes and functions, including multiple shifts and emergency coverage.
