About The Position

UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Remote Medical Coder for Ophthalmology. The role supports accurate coding of diagnostic, procedural, and surgical information to enable appropriate reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. The Coding Specialist contributes to revenue cycle success by reviewing provider documentation, resolving coding denials, supporting education initiatives, and maintaining compliance with coding standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification.
At least 1 year of coding experience using ICD-10 or equivalent.
Ophthalmology experience.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Commitment to ongoing education to maintain certification.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

Accurately code charges from provider encounter forms and operative reports using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
Enter charges from all sites in the CGM billing system and verify EMR data.
Evaluate provider documentation to ensure the correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels are assigned.
Review coding denials and submit appeals as needed.
Help resolve reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy.
Provide feedback to physicians and support coding education for staff and residents.
Answer patient and insurance inquiries as needed.
Participate in meetings, committees, and process improvement initiatives.
