About The Position

Join the Student Health Center Business Office as a Medical Coder and Biller. In this part-time, benefited role of 28 hours per week, you will help create the best possible experience for every patient in a Christ-centered environment by ensuring accurate billing, working with insurance providers, and answering patient questions. The position supports billing and insurance-related work for student, missionary, and employee visits across BYU Health Services.

Requirements

• A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
• At least one year of experience in a medical office processing third-party insurance claims, coding and billing, and insurance payments.
• Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and knowledge of medical coding and billing.

Nice To Haves

• Medical coding and/or billing certification.
• Three to five years of experience processing medical claims for third-party insurance.
• AAPC medical coding certification and/or AAPC or AMBA medical billing certification.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts and ensure accurate accounts receivable data, coding, and charges for student, missionary, and employee visits across BYU Health Services.
• Submit third-party insurance claims and work with insurers to resolve claim problems.
• Help patients and others in person, by phone, email, and Y-message with billing, insurance claims, third-party insurance questions, and general Student Health Center information.
• Enter third-party insurance payments and provide backup for other Student Health Center billing office duties.
• Maintain continuing education credits for certification renewal and update the Business Office training manual as needed.
