About The Position

We currently have an opening for a Medical Certification Specialist in our Developmental Disabilities - Waiver Support and Services office! This role will perform advanced level duties involving reviews, interpretation and decisions of certifications/eligibility for Medicaid expenditures for individuals seeking Home and Community Based Waiver Services (HCBWS). Mission: To improve the quality of life for citizens of Acadiana who have behavioral health and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Requirements

  • A current Louisiana license in a health services field, health regulation field, or social services field plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
  • A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services; OR
  • A master's degree in a health services field, health regulation field, or a social services field plus one year of experience in hospital or nursing home administration, health services, health regulation, or social services.

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret and make determinations of certifications/eligibility for Home and Community Based Waiver Services (HCBWS) in accordance with federal and state Medicaid guidelines.
  • Apply knowledge of policy/procedures for the four separate HCBWS currently being administered in Louisiana: New Opportunities Waiver, Children’s Choice Waiver, Supports Waiver, and Residential Options Waiver.
  • Provide technical assistance, consultative services, programmatic oversight and direction to support coordination as well as service agencies regarding quality of services, compliance with Medicaid guidelines for waiver certification, and responsible service delivery.
  • Apply knowledge of region wide resources in order to refer individuals and/or service agencies to such for assistance.
