Medical Assistant - Outpatient, AH Mojave (Per Diem, Day Shift)
About The Position
The Medical Assistant performs non-invasive, routine technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife. The role is with Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley, which provides hospital, outpatient, emergency, clinic, and medical-office services. The position is per diem on the day shift at AH Mojave. The Medical Assistant prepares exam rooms, checks in patients, maintains patient recall and continuity-of-care records, obtains vital signs, and reports significant findings and observations to the clinic physician. The role also performs ordered venipunctures and audiometry and vision testing, along with other assigned job-related duties. Associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
Requirements
- High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.
- BLS certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required for the facility.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or an equivalent combination of licensure and experience is preferred.
- Successful completion of audiometry and vision training, or a CHDP certificate within six months of hire, is preferred.
- Phlebotomy certificate is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
- Maintain a patient recall system, including a continuity-of-care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
- Obtain vital signs and report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
- Perform venipunctures as ordered.
- Perform audiometry and vision testing.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
