About The Position

Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley is a healthcare organization that includes a 25-bed hospital, outpatient services, an emergency department, rural health clinics, and medical offices. The Medical Assistant performs non-invasive, routine technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife.

The position is per diem on the day shift. Associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply. Adventist Health participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required for the facility.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent combination of licensure and experience.
• Successful completion of audiometry and vision training, or a CHDP certificate within six months of hire.
• Phlebotomy certificate.

Responsibilities

• Set up examination rooms and check in patients.
• Maintain a patient recall system, including a continuity-of-care log for laboratory tests, referrals, and transfers.
• Obtain vital signs.
• Report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
• Perform venipunctures as ordered.
• Perform audiometry and vision testing.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
