About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The role includes continued training in all aspects of Medical Assistant work and supports providers in a fast-paced, collaborative primary care office. The Medical Assistant may float to other offices based on business needs.

Requirements

• Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification, or qualifying direct patient care experience in lieu of the education requirement.
• Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer.
• Maintain all required credentials throughout employment.
• At least one year of experience in direct patient care in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
• EPIC EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and complete outside medication and allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history, and virtual health support.
• Conduct point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation.
• Assist providers with in-house procedures as needed.
• Provide administrative support, including scheduling, chart preparation, referrals, check-in and check-out, prior authorizations, and transportation facilitation.
• Float to other offices based on business needs.
