This role supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assisting with patient and family education, and communicating with the patient's healthcare team. Primary care is the first point of contact for general health issues, screenings, and health questions, encompassing specialties like family and internal medicine, women's health, geriatrics, and pediatrics.

Requirements

MA certification organizations recognized by Vanderbilt Health: AMT (America Medical Technologists), AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing), NHA (National Health Career Association), NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals).
Can sit for exam if they have 12 months of patient care experience.
Consideration may be given to candidates that can obtain certification within 120 days, in accordance with state guidelines.
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program.
Relevant Work Experience
Less than 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

Supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assist with patient and family education and communication with patient's health care team.
Directs and supports patient flow as well as unit operations by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.
Facilitates identification of resources to meet patient healthcare needs.
Performs/assists with procedures according to organizational/departmental standards.
Collects and documents patient screening data for the healthcare team.
Assists with patient and family education.
