About The Position

As a Medical Assistant, you'll provide both clinical and administrative support while helping ensure patients receive efficient, compassionate care. For more than 25 years, Illinois Pain & Spine Institute has provided advanced interventional pain care throughout the Chicago area. As Illinois' largest interventional pain practice, IPSI specializes in minimally invasive treatments designed to help patients manage pain, improve mobility, and enhance their quality of life.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical Assistant certification may be required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, spelling, and office ethics
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements
  • Familiarity with clerical procedures, recordkeeping, and filing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other patient information
  • Prepare patients, examination rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and instruments
  • Assist physicians and practitioners with examinations, procedures, and patient care
  • Prepare, order, and administer medications under physician direction and supervision
  • Assist with pre- and post-procedure patient transfers
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and stock clinical areas
  • Provide compassionate support to patients and families
  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Check in patients and obtain required information, forms, and consents
  • Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments
  • Assist with waitlist management and schedule optimization
  • Schedule follow-up appointments at checkout and document reasons when appointments cannot be scheduled
  • Maintain accurate records and support daily office operations
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and other healthcare regulations
  • Complete required training and follow established clinical and office procedures
