About The Position

Medical Assistants serve at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The role primarily supports medication administration, medication and supply stocking, glucose monitoring, medical record documentation, patient education, and general clerical work. Medical Assistants also assist with appointments, patient histories and vital signs, venipuncture and lab draws, medication inventories, and pharmacy-related activities.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Valid certification in the state of Texas.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
Must pass a background check and have a favorable credit report.

Responsibilities

Make appointments.
Take and record patient history and vital signs.
Assist with medication administration, stocking medication and supplies, glucose monitoring, electronic medical record documentation, patient education, and general clerical duties.
Perform venipuncture and lab draws.
Use the medication administration record to document medications administered.
Help maintain accurate medication administration records and proper documentation in the electronic medical record.
Report and record adverse medication reactions, and seek immediate medical assistance for patients with severe reactions.
Assist a pharmacist or other appropriate staff member with pharmacy-related activities, including storage and inventory of pharmacy supplies.
Complete medication inventory.
Maintain accurate inventory of needles, syringes, and controlled substances.
