About The Position

We are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care office, a patient-centered practice in Richardson, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an outpatient environment with a schedule supportive of work-life balance. This position handles a variety of patient care activities in a professional and patient-focused manner. The Medical Assistant plays a key role in providing exceptional care by accompanying patients to exam rooms, taking vitals, collecting patient history, administering injections, phlebotomy, assisting with procedures, prescription refills, patient callbacks, patient referrals, check out, and appointment confirmation calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • A Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • EMR experience required; e-Clinical Works preferred
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Responsibilities

  • Reception; patient check-in/out; patient call back; answer incoming calls; scheduling; insurance verification; calculating and collecting patient co-pay
  • Rooming patients, taking vitals and collecting patient histories
  • Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the providers
  • Updating and filing patients’ medical records
  • Relaying instructions to patients/families
  • Administering injections and vaccinations, performing blood draws and general phlebotomy
  • Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
  • Restocking exam/procedure rooms
  • Prescription refills, scanning, referral paperwork, documentation filing of fax inbox, and other patient related administrative paperwork
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned to ensure smooth daily operations
