American Family Care Medical Assistants combine clinical care, patient service, and front-desk and insurance-verification work to keep urgent care centers running smoothly. They support patient care while helping ensure services are paid correctly in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role includes greeting and triaging patients; collecting vital signs and histories; performing venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing; assisting with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy; and handling patient registration and insurance verification. Medical Assistants educate patients about procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, maintain accurate EMR records, and support team huddles, compliance logs, infection control, and HIPAA standards. The work environment is a fast-paced urgent care clinic, with prolonged standing and walking, routine exposure to blood and body fluids requiring strict PPE adherence, and occasional lifting of up to 25–30 pounds. Evening and weekend shifts and floating to nearby centers may be required. The expected pay range is $19–$21 per hour; final compensation depends on experience, certifications, education, and geographic location. AFC also offers a competitive benefits package and advancement opportunities, which vary by employment status.
