About The Position

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The position works directly with a franchised business location, and specific duties and benefits may vary between franchises. American Family Care (AFC) is a primary and urgent care company providing walk-in services seven days a week. Its centers focus on episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers’ compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location has an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF).

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

AMT registration.
AAMA Certified Medical Assistant credential.

Responsibilities

Obtain patient vital signs and medical history, determine the reason for the visit, and prepare patients for physical exams.
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved procedures.
Draw blood and prepare labs for reference-lab or in-house processing.
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
Perform drug-screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered according to approved procedures.
Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
