About The Position

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. The position works directly with a franchised business location, where specific job duties and benefits may vary between franchises. American Family Care provides urgent care, accessible primary care, and occupational medicine through clinics operating seven days a week. Centers treat acute illnesses and injuries, workers’ compensation cases, and occupational medicine needs, and are equipped with onsite labs and in-house x-ray capability. A position may be at a company-owned or franchise location; franchise owners determine their own employment policies, procedures, compensation, and benefits.

Requirements

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

AMT registration.
AAMA Certified Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

Obtain patient vitals and medical history, determine the reason for the visit, and prepare patients for physical exams.
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved procedures.
Draw blood and prepare labs for reference-lab or in-house processing.
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
Respond to lab messages and callback requests.
Perform drug-screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Ensure patient immunizations are documented and administered in accordance with approved procedures.
Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
Prepare exam rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
