About The Position

The Medical Assistant performs a wide variety of activities, including direct patient care and administrative and laboratory functions. Direct patient care may involve working with patients of all ages in person and over the phone, using assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills. All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of a physician and/or mid-level provider. The Medical Assistant may also perform reception activities, greet and assist patients and visitors, and help complete the business side of a patient visit.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required. One or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of program completion, at department discretion.
• Medical Assistant certification or registration from an accepted credentialing organization is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of the start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire.

• One year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to patients of all ages, in person and over the phone.
