About The Position

The Medical Assistant performs a wide variety of activities that may include direct patient care, administrative functions, and laboratory functions. Direct patient care may involve working with patients of all ages, in person and over the phone, and completing tasks using assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills. All patient care is provided under the direct supervision of a physician and/or mid-level provider. The Medical Assistant may also perform reception activities, greet and assist patients and visitors, and help complete the business side of a patient visit. The role is scheduled for 40 hours per week. Medical Assistant certification or registration is required, though it may be obtained within 90 days of the start date. Basic Life Support certification is required within 60 days of hire.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is required; one or more years of Medical Assistant experience may be considered in lieu of program completion at the department’s discretion.
Medical Assistant certification or registration is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of the start date, from one of the listed credentialing organizations.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

One year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
