About The Position

Altus Biologics is dedicated to treating each patient like family by managing the administrative aspects of physicians’ biologic therapy practices. The Medical Assistant works closely with a physician or supervising RN to provide IV and injection therapy to patients with autoimmune diseases in an office setting. The role also supports documentation, daily and monthly reports, patient-record processing, patient flow, and scheduling. The position has daytime hours, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of experience in a medical office setting, including front- and back-office work.
Graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited school with a certificate of completion from a Medical Assistant or Medical Technology program.
BLS certification.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Certification through AMMA is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Administer allergy injections.
Take patients’ vital signs and record findings in AIMS.
Help manage patient flow with the site clinician, including greeting and rooming patients.
Clean injection chairs between patients and at the end of the day.
Prepare charts for scheduled injections.
Obtain required patient records in accordance with treatment protocols, including records from clinic EMRs or outside resources.
Communicate appropriately with physicians, staff, patients, and Altus colleagues by phone, EMR, chat, email, and other methods.
Work the assigned site’s unscheduled-patient report and attend weekly collaboration meetings to help ensure patients are scheduled promptly.
Assist with scheduling patient appointments.
Assist with ordering medical supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
