About The Position

Three Crosses Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant committed to clinical excellence and building a patient-centered culture. This role performs a variety of medical and clinical support functions in an outpatient setting, including patient triage, registration, administrative services, direct patient care assistance, and routine medical procedures. Duties involve updating medical histories, scheduling appointments and procedures, obtaining medication authorization, reminding patients of appointments, checking vitals, performing tests, managing messages, pre-charting, and abstracting documentation. The Medical Assistant must maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment and interact positively with patients and team members. The incumbent will uphold ethical standards, support the hospital's mission, vision, and values, and demonstrate knowledge of healthcare systems and the ability to work with a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6-12 months of experience in a health care environment.
  • BLS from American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of successful completion of Medical Assistant Program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various administrative and clinical duties under direction of administration and/or clinician.
  • Assists patients as necessary with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting specimens and preparing for exams.
  • Utilizes electronic health records system to collect pertinent patient history consistent with organizational guidelines.
  • Performs screening consistent with provider guidelines, Takes vital.
  • Prepares and administers medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections as directed by provider.
  • Transmits prescription refills as directed.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly with patients, co-workers, and management.
  • Prepares charts for provider to include obtaining results of studies such as labs, imaging, etc. prior to visit.
  • Assists in completion of forms in preparation of provider review and signature.
  • Schedules appointments/procedures and answers calls/message in a timely basis.
  • Arranges hospital admissions and laboratory services as needed.
  • Monthly/Weekly/Annual inspection and testing of equipment used in clinic.
  • Maintains effective communication with the patient and provides an explanation of procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Ensures physician order for the procedure is entered accurately. Consults appropriate resources to clarify orders and deemed necessary.
