About The Position
New York Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for its OBGYN team, serving locations in Port Jefferson, Patchogue, and Smithtown, New York. The role works five 8.5-hour days, Monday through Friday, with scheduled hours between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Medical Assistant supports physicians and other staff in providing patient care and completing office procedures.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certificate.
- High school diploma.
- Proficiency with an EMR system is preferred.
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods, as well as stand, bend, and reach.
- Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs.

Responsibilities
- Manage patient intakes and accurately record information.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, including performing venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
- Record patients’ vital signs and prepare patients for examinations.
- Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
- Assist providers and support staff with data entry.
- Assist physicians during visits, examinations, and office procedures.
- Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
