About The Position

Mass General Brigham is hiring a Hybrid, Float Medical Assistant to support their TEAM & Annual Wellness Visit Programs. This is a new role supporting a new provider and program, and will also support a provider at NWH. The Medical Assistant position is Full Time with comprehensive benefits. This role includes onsite workdays weekly, in Somerville and NWH (Newton-Wellesley Hospital). The TEAM and Population Health practices are growing, with a commitment to improving preventive care delivery for older adults through innovative, accessible, and patient-centered onsite in person and increased virtual care. The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in this mission by partnering with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to deliver seamless, high-quality virtual visits. Through careful preparation, documentation, and patient engagement, the MA ensures each visit is efficient, comprehensive, and personalized to the patient’s needs. This position supports the Population Health team’s broader goal within the new program by increasing completion rates for Annual Wellness Visits among Medicare patients, enhancing access to preventive care, reducing provider administrative burden, optimizing clinical workflows, coordinating follow-up visits, assisting to gather information outstanding to close care gaps, and supporting PHSO programs annual wellness visits, cardiac kidney metabolic, and advanced chronic kidney disease programs. As part of the Population Health department, this role contributes to Mass General Brigham’s systemwide efforts to improve quality, equity, and patient experience while supporting sustainable, value-based care for aging populations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Certified Medical Assistant - Active Certification required
  • Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years at least required
  • Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred
  • Experience with annual visits, rooming and supporting geriatric patients who receive Medicare benefits is a plus
  • Phlebotomy experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial assessment, rooming, vital signs, and risk assessment to update provider on patient history.
  • Taking vital signs and manual blood pressure.
  • Collecting blood samples and other specimens.
  • Rooming the patient.
  • Taking vital signs and documenting in Epic patient record.
  • Performing EKG and uploading to Epic patient record.
  • Supplying and stocking patient rooms with MRSA / MSSA swabs.
  • Collecting completed MRSA/MSSA swabs and sending to testing.
  • Performing labs and sending for testing.
  • Conducting wellness visits virtually and in person.
  • Conducting virtual annual assessments.
  • Coordinating follow-up visits.
  • Assisting to gather information outstanding to close care gaps.
  • Supporting PHSO programs annual wellness visits, cardiac kidney metabolic, advanced chronic kidney disease programs in clinical support responsibilities.
