About The Position

The Medical Assistant is a senior-level team member responsible for performing many aspects of the occupational health center's services. The company, with over 30 years of experience, supports the petrochemical and manufacturing industry both domestically and internationally. Located along the Gulf Coast, the company provides training, occupational medicine, and innovative solutions. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in the Occupational Health Services (OHS) program and may be trained to perform additional services. They will be required to perform other technician duties as requested by management to ensure safe and effective medical services to HASC/Global Health customers.

  • Cross-train and assist other departments as necessary.
  • Willingness to work at different locations if the company need arises.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Current full unrestricted certification.
  • Computer skills, including electronic medical records.
  • Must be able to fully pass all job site verification requirements, including but not limited to a background check, drug screening, and safety examinations.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 5 years of occupational medicine or equivalent experience.
  • General organizational skills.
  • Advanced credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment, including x-ray machines, medical tools and equipment, respirator fit machines, pulmonary function machines, audiometry machines, audio fit testing machines, functional capacity machines, and breath alcohol machines.
  • Calibrate all equipment at the beginning of each day and as required by manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct periodic surveys of equipment and stations to identify and correct safety and hygiene hazards.
  • Complete all administrative steps applicable to equipment, verifying and recording required information.
  • Administer respirator fit tests in compliance with CFR 1910.134 Respiratory protection Standard.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships by responding to questions, concerns, and requests with speed and professionalism.
  • Thoroughly disinfect and inspect each respirator after each test.
  • Ensure all customer data and paperwork are kept confidential.
  • Facilitate medical patients' vital signs, triage, room placement, etc.
  • Keep up to date with relevant safety topics, software, lecture, and online training technology.
  • Attend and successfully pass a week-long certifying course in NIOSH and CAOCH.
  • Attend and successfully pass all required drug and alcohol testing courses.
  • Strive to maintain flawless personal drug testing procedures and undergo mandated remediation within 30 days of error notification.
  • Respond to after-hour calls as needed.
  • Promptly communicate with the radiology vendor to ensure quick x-ray reporting.
  • Facilitate State Radiologic inspections (x-ray technicians only).
