About The Position

The GVH Family Medicine Clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their patient care team. This role is crucial as the Medical Assistant is often the first point of contact for patients. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient examinations and treatments under the supervision of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider. The clinic emphasizes continuous learning and growth, offering opportunities to advance through their Clinical Ladder program and providing paid training for Medical Assistant Certification.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required.
Previous family practice, clinic or hospital experience preferred.
EMR experience preferred.
Current CPR/BLS preferred.

Responsibilities

Welcomes patients and prepares them for physician evaluation, including discussing the reason for the visit and taking/documenting vital signs.
Records and completes appropriate information in patient charts regarding symptoms, drug allergies, current medications, and dosage.
Performs point-of-care tests such as EKGs, Urine HCG, blood sugar, urinalysis, hemoccult, peak flow, and nebulizer treatments.
Coordinates patient flow in examination and treatment areas for efficiency.
Provides follow-up with patients regarding test results and progress checks as directed by the physician.
Performs general cleaning duties, including restocking drawers, treatment trays, and treatment rooms daily.
Completes specimen handling, processing, and paperwork for send-out tests.
Performs clerical functions as assigned by the Clinic Office Manager.
