About The Position

Medical Assistant–Surgical Services provides administrative and clinical support in a fast-paced physician’s practice, delivering patient care under the direction of the practice leader. The role is open to certified medical assistants and non-certified applicants with the specified patient-care experience or formal training. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

• For certified applicants: high school diploma or equivalent and a certificate or associate degree from a Medical Assistant program.
• For certified applicants: current Certified Medical Assistant credential, such as NCCT or equivalent.
• For non-certified applicants: high school diploma or equivalent.
• For non-certified applicants: at least six months in a patient-care role or completion of formal training such as CNA, EMT, GNA, or Medical Assistant training.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification is required for both certified and non-certified applicants.
• Non-certified applicants must demonstrate full competency and pass a skills assessment within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort using EHR systems and performing multiple tasks.
• Compassion, attention to detail, and commitment to quality care.

Nice To Haves

• Prior Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record patient histories and vital signs, and prepare exam rooms.
• Assist with examinations, procedures, injections, and suture removal.
• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Schedule appointments, tests, and follow-up visits.
• Answer phones, process paperwork, and manage medical records.
• Maintain clean and sterile examination areas and equipment.
• Provide patient education and follow-up communication.
• Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
