About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports department providers at Lake Cumberland Physician Practices by providing high-quality clinical care and administrative support. This role helps ensure efficient clinic operations, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience. The Medical Assistant collaborates with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support patient flow and revenue cycle processes.

The position is based in a walk-in clinic and is scheduled for five 8-hour day shifts, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, the Medical Assistant assists with patient assessments and treatments, performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection, monitors and communicates changes in patient condition, and documents care. The role also involves maintaining medical equipment, supplies, and examination areas, along with assigned administrative and clerical duties.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CCMA, CMA, or RMA license.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under the supervision of a physician or nurse.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and collect specimens.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care provided.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain examination areas.
• Perform assigned administrative and clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
