About The Position

knownwell is a weight-inclusive healthcare provider offering weight management, primary care, nutrition counseling, and health coaching through a hybrid model of in-clinic and virtual care. Backed by significant funding, the company is rapidly scaling to expand access to evidence-based obesity care nationwide. As a Medical Assistant at knownwell, you will be instrumental in delivering patient-centered care and supporting the clinical team. Your responsibilities will include assisting with procedures, managing clinic operations, and maintaining patient records, all while ensuring a welcoming and high-quality patient experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing, collaborative team and make a significant contribution to the care journey of patients in our obesity management and primary care programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of healthcare experience
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; works effectively and collaboratively with patients, clinicians, and teammates.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for high-quality, evidence-based patient care and outstanding patient experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Assistant certification strongly preferred
  • Experience in primary care, specialty care, metabolic health, or weight management preferred
  • Experience with athenahealth preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and other visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, verify patient details, and collect patient payments.
  • Take vitals, gather patient histories, and assist with clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, body composition scans, and phlebotomy).
  • Support smooth transitions between check-in, exam rooms, and check-out.
  • Update patient records, support external order submission, coordinate with external facilities, and review test results with clinicians.
  • Triage and respond to inbox messages to ensure patients receive appropriate support between visits.
  • Support patient scheduling, outreach, and other engagement efforts as needed.
  • Ensure exam room supplies are stocked and rooms are ready for patient care.
  • Provide support for clinicians on virtual patient care days as part of our hybrid care model as needed.
