About The Position

The SCO Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering comprehensive clinical and administrative assistance within a medical setting. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance processing and billing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and prepare patients for medical examinations, including taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and minor procedures by providing necessary instruments and support.
  • Manage patient medical records by accurately entering data into electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensuring confidentiality.
  • Schedule patient appointments, handle patient inquiries, and coordinate follow-up care as directed by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments and examination rooms in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Administer medications or injections as authorized and monitor patient responses under the supervision of medical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and participate in ongoing training to stay current with medical best practices.
