Responsibilities

Interview patients, document medical histories, and verify the purpose of the visit.
Measure and record vital signs like blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and weight.
Prepare examination rooms and assist physicians during patient exams and minor procedures.
Collect and prepare blood, urine, and other specimens for laboratory testing, or draw blood (phlebotomy).
Administer medications or injections and change wound dressings as directed by a licensed physician and allowed by state law.
Sterilize medical instruments, dispose of contaminated supplies, and maintain strict sanitation standards.
Book appointments, manage the physician’s calendar, and handle hospital or surgery center bookings.
Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR), ensuring diagnostic and procedural coding is accurate and confidential.
Greet patients, answer phone calls, triage messages, and follow up with patients regarding care instructions or test results.
Assist with insurance claim processing, verify patient eligibility, and process prescription refills.
Monitor medical and office supply levels, place orders, and maintain equipment.
