Medical Assistant (MA) - Urogynecology & Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery - Highland Park
About The Position
The Medical Assistant (MA) in Urogynecology and Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery will provide clinical care under the direction of the office Practice Manager and Physicians. This role involves documenting vital signs, allergies, medications, and patient histories, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, and assisting physicians during procedures. The MA will also perform bladder scans, void trials, catheterizations, collect and prepare specimens, sterilize medical equipment, answer phones, schedule patients, and review provider templates. This position requires travel to other locations for coverage and training in related specialties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required.
- previous experience working in a Women’s Health medical office (or related field) is preferred.
- Flexibility, team player & enjoy working at a fast pace.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care under the direction of the office Practice Manager and Physicians
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications, reason for office visit and take medical histories
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; perform bladder scans, void trials, catheterizations, assist the physician during procedures
- Collect/prepare specimens
- Sterilize medical equipment/scopes using High Level Disinfection
- Answer phones in admin office
- Schedule, reschedule and register patients
- Review provider templates
- Perform other functions as delegated
