About The Position

Under the supervision of a physician or advanced practice clinician (NP or PA), the Medical Assistant performs Medical Assistant-specific tasks and assesses and educates patients. The role is with Berkley Family Medicine at Valley Health and is classified as non-exempt.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and one year of experience in a clinical setting. Specialty-specific assisting training is desired. New hires must have the appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider (HCP) level; new hires must have appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
• Good communication skills.
• Competence in providing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
• Knowledge of the basic principles of human growth and development.
• Competence in interacting with patients according to special needs that may apply based on patient age.
