About The Position

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in delivering patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education, with continued training in all aspects of the role. Provides direct patient care under the direction of a provider and indirect patient-care support, including administrative duties and front-desk coverage based on business needs. May float to other offices based on business needs.

Requirements

Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification, or qualifying related experience.
Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer.
Maintain all required credentials throughout employment.
At least one year of experience in direct patient care in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
EPIC EMR experience.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care under the direction of a provider, including taking vital signs; medication and allergy reconciliation; screenings; patient history; health maintenance; advance directives; and virtual health.
Provide indirect patient-care support, including scheduling, check-in/check-out, referrals, chart preparation, and prior authorizations.
Conduct point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation.
Perform administrative duties and cover the front desk based on business needs.
Float to other offices based on business needs.
Participate in continued training in all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.
