About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examination and assists clinical providers by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social history, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the employee’s certification and under physician supervision. Candidates must be able to travel between department locations and work rotating shifts as needed at the Voorhees, Moorestown, and Camden offices.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
Current Medical Assistant certification or registration. In Delaware, certification is required within one year of hire.
BLS certification.
Flexibility to travel between department locations and work rotating shifts at the Voorhees, Moorestown, and Camden offices as needed.

0–2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and prepare exam rooms based on the patient’s needs.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function testing, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients about prescriptions and test results as directed and under physician supervision.
Perform and document daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain par levels of clinical supplies.
Perform front desk duties as directed, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
