Medical Assistants perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support providers, and keep office operations running smoothly. This role involves accurate patient registration and scheduling, maintaining supply inventories, processing supply orders, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. Medical Assistants are responsible for tasks such as administering injections, EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, and rendering therapeutic treatments as instructed by the physician. They also determine patient eligibility for programs like Medicaid EVS, identify referral and preauthorization needs, handle office calls, greet patients professionally, and manage protected health information appropriately. Accurate data input into the electronic health record, obtaining and documenting patient vital signs, interviewing and triaging patients, assisting providers in examinations, and demonstrating I.C.A.R.E. behaviors to enhance the patient experience are also key duties. Other projects and duties may be assigned.
