About The Position

The MAs that do best in our fast paced and busy Dermatology practice are driven, dependable and team oriented. They must be self-motivated and able multi-task while upholding our vision to provide compassionate service and exceptional care for our patients.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and site labeling.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Skilled in using IPADs and willingness to learn EMR
  • Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees, physicians, patients and managers.
  • Familiarity with CLIA and OSHA requirements a plus as well as Safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and recognizes the need for cost containment by following practices that minimize waste.
  • MA, RMA, CMA or CNA with a minimum two years of experience in a clinical setting or Bachelors of Science in a health-related field or 6 months of clinical hands on experience in a dermatology practice with a requirement to become a Certified Dermatology Tech within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Dermatology setting is preferred but we will train the right candidate.
  • Experience in the following disciplines is helpful: wound care, plastic surgery, and facial surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily clinic preparation duties which include: stocking rooms, monitoring inventory levels, filling liquid nitrogen canisters, drawing up Lidocaine syringes, refrigerating medications when they are delivered, sterilizing instruments, and other duties as directed by clinical team leads.
  • Rooms patients in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Utilizes EMR to document or update the patient’s medical history, chief complaint and medication list.
  • Functions as a scribe during the visit by accurately documenting the impression and plan and entering in new prescriptions, and providing patient education regarding wound care and medication instructions.
  • Assists with excisions and biopsies.
  • Performs surgical tasks such as site preparation, numbing the surgical site, taking photos of the site, preparing specimens for pathology and suture removals.
  • Monitors “tasks” in the EMR and addresses them in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Performs instrument sterilization and prepares surgical packs as needed.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively as part of a team of physicians, PAs, LPNs, MAs, registration staff and management.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines at all times to ensure that patient privacy is always protected.
  • Maintains knowledge of departmental processes and protocols, participates in learning opportunities, all-staff training sessions, special projects, etc. as directed by the clinical team leads or the site manager.
  • Other tasks as directed by management and clinical team leads.
