About The Position

Join The Oregon Clinic as a full-time Credentialed or Non-Credentialed Medical Assistant in our Gastroenterology West Clinic in Southwest Portland. This role offers a hybrid/remote option after an initial training period. You will work with a collaborative team dedicated to providing high-value, patient-focused care with kindness and empathy. Your contributions will directly impact the local community and our ecosystem of care by ensuring an efficient and positive patient experience. This position involves back-office duties, direct patient care, administrative tasks, and supporting telehealth services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience as a Medical Assistant is strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire.
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
  • A commitment to patient-focused care, privacy, and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Care GI experience is a plus!
  • Certification through a national agency such as AAMA, NCCT, etc. is preferred.
  • ACLS may be required by specialty.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience is preferred.
  • Epic experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Back-office responsibilities include daily schedule review, rooming patients, obtaining vitals, assisting physicians, direct patient flow and room turnover in assigned areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness, inventory, and preparedness of assigned exam rooms.
  • Perform CLIA waive test.
  • Assist with telehealth medicine.
  • Provide assistance to patients who need help with ambulation or those dependent on a wheelchair or walker.
  • Clinical in-basket management, accurately document medical information in patients’ records per clinic standards, scheduling appointments, and managing clinical referral orders, process refill requests to the pharmacy as ordered by providers.
  • Answering phones on a multi-line system and assisting with phone triage.
  • Processing of incoming referrals and electronic fax submissions.
  • Report off to the covering team member when leaving the floor for a break, lunch, or off duty.
  • Ability to problem solves issues in a team environment.
  • Assisting with the overall delivery of patient care in the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
