About The Position

Our dermatology practice in Canton, Michigan is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated Full-Time Medical Assistant preferably with Mohs experience to join our growing team. You would be working with our Mohs surgeon 2 days a week and the regular Derm clinic the rest of the week. This is an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in medical, surgical, Mohs, and cosmetic dermatology while working alongside experienced providers in a collaborative and patient-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have prior Mohs surgery experience and be comfortable working closely with a Mohs surgeon, including assisting with surgical procedures and providing support throughout the patient’s surgical experience. This position offers hands-on exposure to dermatologic surgery and the opportunity to develop and expand your clinical skills as part of a dedicated team. Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a physician-led healthcare team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Mohs surgery experience preferred.
  • Experience assisting with dermatologic or surgical procedures strongly preferred.
  • A Certificate of Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program, BLS/CPR certification, and/or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and maintaining examination and surgical rooms for patient care and procedures.
  • Assisting the Mohs surgeon and other providers with surgical procedures, including preparing patients, maintaining a sterile field, assisting during procedures, and providing appropriate post-procedure care.
  • Supporting the Mohs surgical process and assisting with patient flow throughout the stages of treatment.
  • Providing clinical assistance during dermatologic procedures, including biopsies, excisions, wound care, and other in-office surgical procedures.
  • Preparing instruments and supplies and assisting with cleaning, sterilization, organization, and inventory management.
  • Greeting patients and providing professional, compassionate, and attentive service throughout their visit.
  • Obtaining, documenting, and updating accurate patient information and medical histories.
  • Preparing and maintaining patient charts and verifying required documentation.
  • Updating and maintaining accurate information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, physicians, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Providing patients with appropriate instructions and support before and after procedures, as directed by the provider.
  • Ensuring timely and efficient patient flow while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Following established clinical protocols, infection-control procedures, and safety precautions.
  • Performing additional clinical and administrative duties as needed to support the practice and patient care team.
