About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports the Radiation Oncology clinic and provides additional assistance to Palliative Care as needed. This flex role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment and is passionate about supporting patients and their families. The position is 0.8 FTE, scheduled for 64 hours bi-weekly, Monday through Friday in 8-hour shifts between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. No weekend or holiday hours are required.

Requirements

Graduate of a Medical Assistant, Practical Nursing, or Vocational Nurse program; have completed education to be eligible for NCLEX-PN; or have a high school diploma or equivalent and a Medical Assistant certification.
BLS certification for healthcare workers.
Obtain Medical Assistant certification within 15 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and help set a positive tone for their appointments.
Complete pre-visit planning and medication refills, and support nurses with in-basket work.
Room patients, take vital signs, and maintain accurate, up-to-date charting.
Collaborate with schedulers to help provider calendars run smoothly.
Assist providers with procedures and process equipment.
Provide additional support to Palliative Care as needed.
Partner with providers, medical professionals, and managers to support patient care.
