About The Position

The Greene County Health Department in Greensboro is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care. This position will primarily support front office operations while also assisting with back-office clinical functions, including support for the WIC and Environmental Health (EH) programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service, communication, and computer skills and enjoy working with a diverse patient population.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or High School diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in medical assisting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors and assist with the check-in process.
  • Schedule appointments, answer telephones, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Collect fees for services and accurately process payments.
  • Review patient medical history and ensure all required documentation is complete.
  • Enter patient information into the electronic health record and maintain accurate, confidential records.
  • Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, and hemoglobin (Hgb), as appropriate.
  • Assist nursing staff with patient pre-workup and other clinical duties.
  • Collect blood and other laboratory specimens as directed by nursing staff and prepare and log specimens for processing.
  • Provide administrative support for the WIC program, including scheduling appointments, assisting participants with required paperwork, and maintaining accurate program records.
  • Assist with Environmental Health (EH) office operations by greeting customers, processing permits and applications, collecting fees, scheduling inspections, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff.
  • File and maintain medical and program records in accordance with agency policies.
  • Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned.
