About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports clinical and nursing teams by helping ensure clients receive timely access to prescribed medications and that medication-related workflows are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational standards. This role works closely with providers, nurses, pharmacy staff, clients, and other members of the behavioral health team within a 24/7 acute care setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification in Colorado required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct clinical experience in a medical or behavioral health setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medical or behavioral health systems.
  • Experience with electronic medical/health records and PC-based software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A dependable, flexible, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate prescription orders with outside and community pharmacies based on provider orders.
  • Enter and process medication orders accurately in the electronic medical record and/or applicable pharmacy system.
  • Communicate with pharmacies to clarify prescriptions, confirm availability, and resolve routine medication-related concerns.
  • Assist with medication refills, prescription changes, and prescription pickups as directed by providers or nursing staff.
  • Verify receipt of medications and communicate medication status to appropriate clinical or nursing team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of medication-related activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Communicate promptly with providers and nursing staff regarding delays, unavailable medications, pharmacy concerns, or other barriers.
  • Interact with clients in a respectful, compassionate, trauma-informed manner while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive, and collaborative team environment.
