About The Position

Adventist Health and Rideout is a healthcare provider serving Yuba-Sutter County, with a 221-bed hospital, physician clinics, home care services, cancer care, and other services in Marysville and surrounding areas.

The Medical Assistant assists in planning, providing, and evaluating patient nursing care and coordinates care activities with other healthcare disciplines under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed vocational nurse (LVN). The role works with other staff to achieve patient care objectives, identifies clinical problems, seeks solutions, and reports issues to the affected department. This position is in the Heart Center and is listed as full-time, day shift.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy.
• BLS certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy, as a facility-specific requirement.
• Receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
• Successful completion of audiometry and vision training, or a CHDP certificate, within six months of hire.
• Phlebotomy certificate.

Responsibilities

• Set up exam rooms and check in patients.
• Maintain a patient recall system, including continuity-of-care logs for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
• Assist physicians with office procedures by preparing instruments and providing necessary equipment, solutions, and supplies.
• Obtain vital signs and report significant findings and pertinent patient observations to the clinic physician.
• Perform venipunctures as ordered.
• Perform audiometry and vision testing.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Coordinate nursing care activities with other healthcare disciplines under RN or LVN guidance.
• Identify clinical problems, seek solutions, and report them to the affected department.
