About The Position

Sun River Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support its Amityville, New York location. The Medical Assistant supports high-quality, patient-centered care by assisting providers and the clinical team with clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role helps ensure an efficient patient experience and maintain a welcoming, professional, and organized clinical environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism when interacting with patients, colleagues, and providers.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• Previous Medical Assistant or related clinical experience.
• National Medical Assistant certification; certification is preferred but not required unless otherwise specified for the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and relevant patient information.
• Assist providers and other clinical staff during patient visits, examinations, and procedures as appropriate.
• Prepare examination rooms and support patient flow by ensuring rooms are stocked and ready for use.
• Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record according to established procedures.
• Assist with scheduling, referrals, follow-up activities, and other assigned patient care coordination needs.
• Provide patients with instructions and information consistent with direction from the clinical team.
• Maintain infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.
• Maintain and organize medical supplies and clinical areas.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and other care team members to support an efficient and positive patient experience.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the Medical Assistant role as assigned.
