About The Position

Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values, quality policy, and goals of the Fresenius Vascular Care Group. Acts as an assistant to Physicians, RNs, and Radiology Technicians in patient care and operating procedures. The role has frequent contact with patients, visitors, and patients’ families, requiring effective communication skills and a helpful attitude. Under general supervision, follows established company policies and procedures and applies acquired job skills. Performs work requiring full knowledge of general aspects of the job, typically on semi-routine assignments, while recognizing when occasional deviation from accepted practice is needed. May provide general support tasks to A1 as directed by the immediate supervisor, refer higher-level problems to A3, and escalate issues to a supervisor as necessary. The position also assists with assigned projects and supports cost-control initiatives. Clinical duties include assisting patients to the pre-op area and taking initial vital signs; preparing patients for surgical procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping them; assisting Physicians during procedures while maintaining a sterile environment; assembling and removing instruments, utensils, equipment, gloves, and linens; cleaning procedure rooms between patients; transporting patients as needed; keeping assigned areas clean and stocked; and sterilizing instruments while maintaining quality assurance documentation. The employee must follow sterile procedures, protect the confidentiality of patient information and medical records, and comply with applicable company policies, laws, and regulations. The role may participate in CQI meetings. The position involves active work, including walking or standing for considerable lengths of time while wearing a lead apron. It requires working under pressure and in stressful situations, and involves exposure to communicable disease. Requirements

High School Diploma required.
CPR certification required.
Knowledge of instrument sterilization techniques.
Knowledge of personal protective devices used when operating Radiology systems.
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to transfer and position patients weighing up to 400 lbs.
Ability to work under pressure and in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of related experience preferred.
Hospital or operating room skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Escalate issues to a supervisor as necessary and refer higher-level problems to A3 for assistance.
May participate in CQI meetings.
