About The Position

Devereux Arizona’s Residential Treatment Center (RTC) provides intensive, 24-hour support for youth aged 7 to 17, who are experiencing serious emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. In a structured, therapeutic environment, we combine clinical expertise with compassionate, trauma-informed care to help youth heal, grow and build a brighter future. The RTC features dormitories, an accredited K-12 school, food services, 24/7 on-site nursing, and specialized therapy and clinical services. Medical Assistants provide direct, hands-on medical assistance to practitioners treating patients in a residential treatment setting serving children and adolescents. Medical Assistant job duties include: Assisting with day-to-day health services operations, coordination of medical appointments, medication administration support, health record documentation, and communication between nursing staff, providers, and families as appropriate. Assisting with routine clinical procedures, monitoring and documenting health-related information, facilitating medication management processes, maintaining medical supplies and equipment, and ensuring timely completion of required health documentation. Coordinating, transporting, and accompanying individuals to off-site medical, dental, psychiatric, and specialty appointments, ensuring appropriate supervision, continuity of care, and timely communication of provider recommendations, treatment plans, and follow-up needs to the nursing and treatment teams. Assisting with infection prevention activities, health screenings, and adherence to organizational policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements. Providing administrative and clinical assistance to ensure efficient healthcare operations and support the overall health and well-being of individuals receiving residential treatment services, and other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from a United States accredited educational institution
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Externship
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Customer service experience required
  • ability to work in a fast paced office and prioritize multiple duties
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn other software programs
  • Ability to attend full time new hire orientation Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm (paid)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)
