About The Position

This is a part-time opportunity for a candidate available all day on Mondays and Wednesdays at minimum. The Medical Assistant facilitates communication between the patient and the provider, is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and reviewing intake paperwork for completion. They prepare the patient for the visit and assist patients in receiving the appropriate level of care, including scheduling appointments. The role involves maintaining exam room appearance, restocking and cleaning rooms and tables, and monitoring biohazard and sharps containers. The Medical Assistant will assist the provider with preparing injections, removing dressings, preparing patient prescriptions, and completing medical and patient forms. They must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, practice managers, and clinical staff, and establish good working relationships. The role also includes preparing patient charts, processing prescription requests, charting prescriptions, forwarding documents for physician signature, and preparing charts and printing clinic schedules. The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for the job position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program at an accredited school or institution and/or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Access and Confidentiality Agreement must be read and signed.
  • Healthcare Compliance Pro Training

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2 years medical assistant back office work experience or applicable work experience.
  • Experience in orthopedics is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider.
  • Rooms patients, obtains vitals, and reviews intake paperwork for completion.
  • Prepares the patient for the visit.
  • Assists patients in receiving the appropriate level of care including scheduling patient appointments.
  • Maintains exam room appearance.
  • Restocks and cleans exam rooms and tables.
  • Monitors biohazard and sharps containers and replaces as needed.
  • Assists the provider with preparing injections, removing dressings, preparing patient prescriptions, and completing medical and patient forms.
  • Prepares patient charts for clinic visits to include updating patient demographic information and verifying information with the patient.
  • Processes all requests for patient prescriptions in a timely manner.
  • Charts all prescriptions in the patient chart to include drug, dose, number dispensed and refills.
  • Forwards all incoming documents and patient records for physician signature prior to scanning into the patient chart.
  • Prepares charts for clinic visits and prints clinic schedules.
